Vintage Dogon Door Panel – Mali

This remarkable vintage Dogon door panel from Mali is a true testament to West African craftsmanship and heritage. Hand-carved from a single piece of hardwood, it features traditional geometric motifs and lizard figures, symbols of protection, fertility, and abundance in Dogon culture.

Originally used to safeguard granaries and homes, Dogon doors were believed to shield families from evil spirits while celebrating the rhythms of village life. The intricate carvings reflect centuries-old storytelling, where each figure and pattern carries symbolic meaning passed down through generations.

With its rich patina and weathered surface, this piece radiates authenticity and soulful character. Perfect as a wall-mounted artwork or a conversation starter in a contemporary interior, it blends effortlessly with bohemian, wabi-sabi, or minimalist decor.
